Improving the thermal rating of our homes is widely encouraged with reduced carbon emissions and energy cost savings being the main focus. This has led to the growth of industries specializing in this field installing insulation often at a government subsidized rate. However, without a greater understanding of the impact of such improvements, the result can easily be dampness.
For some year the PCA has been worried about the situation regarding retrofit insulation to properties and has been working closely with trade associations that manged those industries. The result of this is the launch of their new video highlighting the problems and reassuring consumers that PCA members such as ourselves can help solve and prevent dampness as a result of thermal improvments.
